“Thank you Jeremy for taking the time to create such an impactful and focused speech. The business is still talking about it and it has given our new drive for creating an inclusive working environment a great start.”
KPMG employs 174,000 people and has three lines of services: audit, tax, and advisory. As the business builds its future strategy, it has made some bold announcements about the prioritisation of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. UK Chairman Simon Collins and Head of Diversity Stephen Frost set up a week of activities to launch this initiative in 2014.
To start the project with a big impact, global thought leaders came to London to speak at an event which celebrated diversity and inclusion in other contexts.
Sporting Edge founder Jeremy Snape was asked to design and deliver an opening address for the launch event following the introduction by Simon Collins. Jeremy’s speech featured interview insights from Sporting Edge’s Performance Zone® library and was translated into tangible activities which staff at KPMG should consider.
Jeremy presented insights from neuroscience and also from his two high profile sporting roles with the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League and the South African National Cricket Team. Both of these teams saw Jeremy pulling together a shared identity for the teams and developing a team culture that valued interpersonal differences.
The keynote was very thought provoking and was streamed across the KPMG offices, receiving very positive feedback. Jeremy married his messages from the world of high performance perfectly with the CEO’s opening comments. Inclusion and diversity is a key priority for KPMG’s culture and to hear practical strategies of how this can be developed in other industries was not only inspirational, but relevant to their ongoing initiatives.
